Universitas Brawijaya (UB) continues its commitment to becoming a World Class University by enhancing academic excellence and global collaboration. One of its key initiatives is the Adjunct Professor Program 2025, which aims to improve research quality, increase international publications, and expand UB’s global academic network through partnerships with distinguished foreign professors.
Program Objectives
The Adjunct Professor Program 2025 is designed to:
- Strengthen research and publication quality through collaboration with international professors.
- Improve education quality by inviting foreign professors to deliver guest lectures.
- Enhance UB’s international academic reputation by involving adjunct professors in reviewing and editing UB journals.
- Establish long-term international collaborations in education, research, and community engagement.
Program Implementation
This program invites internationally recognized professors to:
- Conduct joint publications with UB lecturers in reputable international journals.
- Deliver 2–4 online lectures, integrated into UB’s academic programs.
- Serve as guest editors or reviewers for UB’s academic journals.
- Contribute to UB’s international ranking through academic reputation surveys.
Requirements and Eligibility
1. Applicant (Host Lecturer)
- The applicant must be an active lecturer or researcher at UB.
- The applicant and/or Adjunct Professor must have an ongoing research project and a draft manuscript.
- Proposals must be submitted through UB’s Faculties, PSDKU, or Graduate Schools.
- Each faculty may submit proposals based on funding availability and eligibility criteria.
- A host can propose more than one Adjunct Professor, under the following conditions:
- If their previous article has been accepted (1 article in Scopus Q1 or 2 articles in Scopus Q2), they may submit 2 proposals in one batch.
- If their previous article has been submitted, they may submit 1 proposal in the next batch.
- If they have not submitted in the previous batch, they are not eligible to submit a new proposal.
- Hosts cannot propose an Adjunct Professor who has already participated in UB’s other strategic programs, such as 3 in 1, Visiting Professor, or similar programs.
2. Adjunct Professor
- Priority is given to foreign nationals or diaspora academics affiliated with institutions outside Indonesia.
- Must be a Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor at a university or research institution abroad.
- Must hold a Doctorate (PhD) or equivalent degree.
- Must have a minimum Scopus h-index of 15 (for STEM fields) or 10 (for social sciences and humanities).
- Must have expertise relevant to the host faculty’s field of study.
- Must be willing to:
- Participate in joint publications in Scopus/WoS-indexed journals.
- List UB as a second affiliation in their publication.
- Support UB’s international ranking efforts.
- Deliver 2–4 online lectures.
- Serve as a reviewer or guest editor for UB journals.
- Must have proficiency in English or Indonesian for communication.
- Must sign a contract with UB.
Funding and Incentives
The amount of incentive for each Adjunct Professor is as follows:
- Scheme A: Adjunct Professor as First and Corresponding Author (80% incentive).
- Scheme B: UB Lecturer as First and Corresponding Author (80% incentive).
- Scheme C: Both as co-authors (60% incentive for the Adjunct Professor, 40% for the UB Lecturer).
Program Deliverables
- Scientific publications in Scopus-indexed journals (Q1: 1 article or Q2: 2 articles).
- Adjunct Professors must list UB as their second affiliation in the publication.
- Adjunct Professors must serve as reviewers or guest editors in UB journals.
- Adjunct Professors must conduct 2–4 online guest lectures.
- Host lecturers must submit progress reports and final reports on time.
Proposal Submission and Implementation
- Host lecturers submit proposals with approval from their dean or research unit head.
- Proposals are verified by UB, and selected applicants will be announced.
- The Rector’s Decree (SK Rektor) is issued, and contracts are signed by the Adjunct Professor and Host Lecturer.
- Activities are carried out according to the schedule.
- Evaluation and monitoring are conducted by UB.
- Paper submission must occur within the contract period, with publication evaluation in the following year (T+1).
- Progress reports and final reports must be submitted as a requirement for fund disbursement.
