Currently, thousands of Indonesian students are continuing their education in Japan. Of these, most of them are those who receive scholarships, both from the Japanese government, agencies and other companies. The Japanese Government Scholarships that are well known by the Indonesian people are scholarships from the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho/ MEXT). This scholarship covers the cost of study and living expenses, without official ties. The Japanese Embassy in Indonesia and its Consulates in Surabaya, Medan, Denpasar and Makassar annually carry out registration and selection for applicants for the Monbukagakusho scholarship. The programs offered to Indonesian students are the Research Student Program for university graduates, Undergraduate, College of Technology and Professional Training College for high school graduates and Japanese Studies for students of Japanese study programs and Teacher Training for teachers.
